Balci Lab
We are a single molecule biophysics laboratory at the Physics Department of Kent State University. We are interested in studying DNA/RNA structures and DNA-protein interactions at the single molecule level. Developing new methods to facilitate the study of such biological systems is also an important aspect of our work. More recently, we have been involved with DNA-based liquid crystal materials. Our research projects are at the interface of physics, biology, and chemistry and we collaborate with researchers from these disciplines.
